"Joey Ramone ... helped define punk's early image, two-decades as frontman of The Ramones made him a counter-cultural icon.  Toward the end of the decade [Joey] began working sporadically on a solo record ... sadly, before the record could be completed Ramone succumbed to lymphatic cancer"  Steve Huey [All Music Guide]

"Steve - you were right about almost everything."  Jeanne DaSilva [Vault]

Joey did finish his album, a brilliant collection of songs recorded over the last four years of his life.  Since I first heard it the CD has been on permanent rotation in my office.  This has an overall positive tone so important in today's climate, and will prove enduring in its quality.

1.    "What A Wonderful World" (02:22)- Thiele/Weiss                     lyrics
                    - a brilliant cover of this warm and fuzzy classic and the
kickin' guitar lick is almost more memorable than the song.
2.
"Stop Thinking About It" (02:56) - Ramone/Shernoff                lyrics
3.
"Mr. Punchy" (02:35) - Ramone                                            lyrics
4.
"Maria Bartiromo" (03:57) - Ramone                                      lyrics
                    - upbeat homage to Joey's favorite newscaster
5.
"Spirit In My House" (02:01) - Ramone                                  lyrics
6.
  "Venting" (03:17) - Ramone                                                lyrics
7.
"Like A Drug I Never Did Before" (02:02) - Ramone                  lyrics
8.
"Searching For Something" (04:11) - Ramone                         lyrics
9.
"I Got Knocked Down (But I'll Get Up)" (03:40) - Ramone          lyrics
                   - a positive and determined tune that will get you through those tough days.
10.
  "1969" (03:38) - Alexander/Asheton/Asheton/Pop                   lyrics
                    - a great cover of Iggy Pop's classic tune.
11.
"Don't Worry About Me" (03:53) - Ramone                             lyrics
12.
"Merry Christmas Baby, I Don't Want To Fight Tonight" - Ramone
                     - heartfelt ballad dedicated to Joey's favorite holiday.
13.
  "I Couldn't Sleep At All Last Night" - Ramone/Leigh
                    - Joey revisits his childhood with a 50's style be-bop-a-lu-lah

LYRICS

1. What A Wonderful World (02:22)
Written by Robert Thiele & George David Weiss © 1967 The Songwriters Guild of America, Quartet Music, Inc. and Range Road Music, Inc.

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I say to myself
What wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
Bright sunny days, dark sacred nights
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

The colors of the rainbow are so pretty in the skies
Are also on the faces of people walking by
I see friends shaking hands saying
How do you do?
They’re really saying
I love you

I see babies cry, I watch them grow
They’ll learn much more than I’ll ever know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself
What a wonderful world

And I say to myself
What a wonderful world

2. Stop Thinking About It (02:56)
Written by Joey Ramone & Andy Shernoff © 2001 When Worlds Collide, Inc.

Stop thinking about it, Stop thinking about it
Dwelling is driving me crazy
Obsessing don’t you know where that’s at
Yeh, you don’t know what you want but you want it

Stop thinking about it (4x)

This world is driving you crazy
Baby don’t you know where that’s at
Yeh, you don’t know what you want but you want it

Oh oh oh oh oh you don’t know what you want but you want it

Stop thinking about it (4x)

Ahh nothing lasts forever
And nothing stays the same
Feeling numb all over
And totally deranged
When you finally make your mind up
I’ll be buried in my grave

O yeah o yeah o yeah
Allright

You don’t know what you want
You don’t know what you want but you want it

Written by Joey Ramone © 2001 When Worlds Collide, Inc.

I’m Mr. Punchy

He must be screwed up What did he do?
He must be screwed up What did he say?
He must be screwed up Is he on glue?
He must be screwed up Hey hey hey!
La la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la
Everybody’s screwed up in their own special way!

What’s happening on Wall St.
What’s happening at the Stock Exchange
I want to know
What’s happening on Squawk Box
What’s happening with my stocks
I want to know
I watch you on the TV every single day
Those eyes make everything okay,
I watch her every day
I watch her every night
She’s really outta sight

Maria Bartiromo
Maria Bartiromo
Maria Bartiromo

What’s happening with Yahoo!
What’s happening with AOL
I want to know
What’s happening with Intel
What’s happening with Amazon
I want to know
I watch you on TV every single day
Those eyes make eveything OK
I watch her every day
I watch her every night
She’s really outta sight

Maria Bartiromo (5x)

What’s happening on Wall St.
What’s happening at the Stock Exchange

6. Venting (It’s A Different World Today) (03:17)
Written by Joey Ramone © 2001 When Worlds Collide, Inc.

World out of control on the evening news
We’re all screwed up and psychologically bruised
Kids killing kids make society pay
Just blow up your school and have a nice day
Reality today’s much stranger than fiction
A sick fuckin’ world with a violent affliction
It really, really bugs me
And it really fuckin’ kills me
Live your life to the fullest and fuck everything

It’s a different world today
I just don’t understand
It’s a different world today
And I just don’t understand
Oh yeh

Does anything ever really get accomplished?
Does anything ever really get done?
Politicians talkin’ through their assholes
It makes you really wanna go and kill someone

It’s a different world today
I just don’t understand
It’s a different world today
And I just don’t understand

I just don’t understand (4x)

7. Like A Drug I Never Did Before (02:02)
Written by Joey Ramone © 2001 When Worlds Collide, Inc.

My head gonna blow brains all over the floor
Pressure like I never felt it before
It’s like a drug I never did before a drug I never done
A drug I never did before

A little edgy yeh I like it that way
A bit more relaxed, much better that way
Like a drug I never did before a drug I never done
A drug I never did before this ain’t fun, no

It’s like a drug
It’s like a drug
It’s like a drug
Like a drug I never did before a drug I never done
A drug I never did before oh what fun

Hanging in the lobby of the Chelsea Hotel
On a wild psychedelic night, pretty wild
Like a drug I never did before a drug I never done
A drug I never did before this ain’t fun

Demons swirling in an OCD pond
My body is vibrating I am gone gone gone

8. Searching for Something (04:11)
Written by Joey Ramone & Al Maddy © 2001 When Worlds Collide, Inc.

Susan moved up to Rochester
She can’t stand the crack anymore
She’s clean and sober now and she just glows
Her mom lives there, there’s and Ashram
Trees and open space
It suits her very well and man it shows

Yeh we went on up to South Fallsburg for some spiritual comforting
And I felt like a million dollars something that money just can’t bring
Yeh her eyes are filled with diamonds and everybody knows her name
Guru my my my my my my baby
Everybody loves you, everybody loves you

Yeh we went on up to South Fallsburg for some spiritual comforting
And I felt like a million dollars something that money just can’t bring
Yeh her eyes are mesmerizing, everybody knows her name
Guru my my my my my baby
Everybody needs you, everybody needs you

Guru Mi went back to India, Susan waits for her return
She got a good job in New York City and she lives in the Ashram
Her eyes are filled with wonder
Well that’s her main concern
Found out she’s going to India after all
Everybody needs you (everybody needs you)
Everybody needs you (everybody needs you)

9. I Got Knocked Down (But I’ll Get Up) (03:40)
Written by Joey Ramone © 2001 When Worlds Collide, Inc.

Sitting in a hospital bed
Sitting in a hospital bed
Sitting in a hospital bed
Sitting in a hospital bed
I, I want life
I want my life
I want my life
I want my life

It really sucks
It really sucks

Sitting in a hospital bed
Frustration going through my head
Turn off the TV set
Take some drugs so I can forget
I, I want life
I want my life
I want my life
I want my life

It really sucks
It really sucks

I got knocked down but I’ll get up
I got knocked down but I’ll get up
I got knocked down
I got knocked down

Well it's 1969 okay
All across the USA
It's another year
For me and you
Another year
With nothin' to do
Nothing here
For me and you
Nothin’ here
With nothin’ to do
Now last year I was 21
I didn't have a lot of fun
And now I'm gonna be 22
I say oh my and boo hoo
I said now I'm gonna be 22
Oh my and boo hoo hoo
It's 1969 okay
All across the USA
It's another year
For me and you
Another year
With nothin' to do
1969
It’s 1969
It’s 1969
Baby

11. Don’t Worry About Me (03:53)
Written by Joey Ramone © 2001 When Worlds Collide, Inc.

Don’t worry ‘bout me
Don’t worry ‘bout me
Oh oh oh

I want you baby, but you always lie
Always complaining or contemplating suicide
I want you baby but you don’t even try
Always complaining said a bye baby bye bye bye

Don’t worry ‘bout me
Don’t worry ‘bout me
Oh oh oh

When I saw you I knew that I wanted ya
But you’re the kinda girl that you just can’t get through to
Standin’ by the corner in a mini skirt
You’re the kinda girl that ya just can’t forget
Now I’m sittin’ here sad and blue
Thinkin’ ‘bout all that we been through
I gotta get away

Don’t worry ‘bout me
Don’t worry ‘bout me
Oh oh oh

I want you baby but you always lie
Always complaining you make the tears fall from my eyes
I want you baby but you don’t even try
Always complaining said a bye baby bye bye bye

Don’t worry ‘bout me
Don’t worry ‘bout me
Oh oh oh
