"It’s Not Gonna Work"
- Lyrics & Music by Miguel Kertsman and Ken Mazur She needs, she wants, her world will go beyond She loves, she dares, to try the steepest stairs She cares, she cries, you can’t avoid her eyes She knows, she wins what others won’t begin [Chorus] Keep her in the same old town Try to shut her dreams all down - It’s not gonna work Tie her to what others say Dismiss everything she thinks - It’s not gonna work Traveling without an ace Doors are shutting in her face - It’s not gonna work They’ll try to keep her out They don’t know what she’s about - It’s not gonna work She waits, she learns, and others’ trust she earns She turns away from all the empty play She finds the time that others leave behind She dreams ideas that go beyond our fears [Chorus] Copyright 1999 by M. "Tell Me Tomorrow" -
Lyrics by John Beltzer, Music by Miguel Kertsman Through the rain I see reflections of your tears In your thoughts I hear you want to go away Maybe I took you for granted for too long Where did I go wrong? Can you stay the night and [Chorus] Tell me tomorrow ‘cause I can’t deal with the sorrow Won’t you tell me tomorrow Is there love left? Like a child left out of a game he wants to play You look at me that way and it makes me feel afraid I understand there’s only so much one can take Before a heart will break, so hold me closer and [Chorus] All my indiscretions were never meant to hurt you It wasn’t my intention and I couldn’t stand Your rejection if you have to go then [Chorus] |

"The City Drifts Away" -
Lyrics & Music by Miguel Kertsman and Ken Mazur Here above the great avenue The city drifts away… Streams of light, rising steam Towers of glass, zoo in the park! A vendor on a corner, a pizza stand In the station with no home Traffic snarling, sirens wailing Walking, running, bumping… heads turning! Lady with the skinny dog, Wall Street shoes, Buses, swings in the park… [Chorus] But, here above the great avenue Once we close the door… Here above, the great avenue The City Drifts away… Drips from above, you-name-it parade Crystal skyline, ferry in the harbor Crowded trains, empty eyes Halls of art and halls of music Yellow cabs, delivery trucks Faces from everywhere, voices from everywhere! Tuxedo, rags, brown paper bags Cockroaches, rats, alley cats… It’s overwhelming you know That we can be part of all this And still let our hearts go… You say that giving and taking Can be difficult to reach There is all that pressure Out there in the streets [Chorus] Wind tunnel alley, kids jumping rope Fashion, glamour, sleeping on a bench Pigeons fly, bridges to everywhere But here…it all drifts away…! |

"The Muse" - Lyrics
& Music by Miguel Kertsman One night he was walking all around In a place called the Village in the East side of town The streets were filled with people and lights It was just the time for a couple of pints As the foam hit his lips he could feel the relief Sweet relaxation what a pleasure indeed As the music gets mellow the lights go dimmer He says to himself: You're such a fine dreamer... Full of dreams, passions, desire He thought he was focused but floated like fire Searching he was, and God knows for what One thing was certain it was not in that lot Avoiding frustration he drew inspiration Emerging himself, (a) peculiar sensation He knew she would come but not knowing when Perhaps it would be right there and then And suddenly he sees such a great sight Her eyes held the keys to the stars at night Her scent, her lips made time stand still Looking she was, but never at him... And little did he know many would come The age of his innocence slowly was gone Conquers and travels on this great road We all learn to deal with our own heavy loads Nothing here is quite what it seems Merely an ocean, a field of dreams We can use the dreams to be, to thrive On this great road that we call life And from the journey we take the clues Drawn from within, the wisdom, the muse Whenever he walks the village again He calls it his path, he calls it his friend |
